Distillation

Technology & Innovation The author William Faulkner once said, "Civilization begins with distillation".

to that, Christian adds “The study of alcohol, is the study of civilization, since everyone of them; either does, or did make alcohol, it shows us what they cherish or what they are proud off”.

What do we use?

We take inspiration from the Rotary-Evaporator, or in shorthand Rotovap, however, designed for a more limited purpose, but featuring new technology in both extraction rates, and distillation speeds, not to mention energy efficiency

While the Rotavap manufacturer commercial first by Buchi in 1957, remains a favourite for prototyping due to its multifaceted and versatile nature, in-sourcing the fermentation of base spirit significantly increased the scale requirements in distillation. Inspired by the rotavap and our advances within alcohol free extraction technology, we have designed the dual-function reactor for both extraction and distillation.

Nakamura “中村” “Middle Village

Although most people associate the word Reactor with Nuclear energy, technically the word Reactor can be given to any electronic or mechanical device facilitating a chemical reaction. In fact, your water kettle is a Reactor. The Reactor is called Nakamura; Japanese for middle village. named after the fictional character of Hiro Nakamura. He was a master of time and space, a fitting name for a Reactor that allows us to make things faster, as if jumping ahead in time.

Our Head Distiller Christian, Designs and builds them, taking inspiration from the Rotovap, as well as Japanese Sochu Stills and as he says “The Turbulent gas-flow design of Filipino/Mongol stills”

We built something for us, so that we can do things our way, unlike having someone else build it for us, to tell us what we can and cannot do.
